A Cinematic Brand Journey Built From Cardboard, CGI and AI
Madness partnered with Grupak, one of Mexico's largest packaging and paper manufacturers, to create its first major brand campaign in decades.
The project combined cinematic CGI animation, AI-powered live action sequences and a custom visual storytelling approach to showcase the complete lifecycle of cardboard—from raw material to finished packaging solutions used by leading brands across Mexico.
What Was The Challenge?
For more than 60 years, Grupak has supplied packaging solutions to some of Mexico's largest industries.
Despite being one of the country's most important B2B manufacturers, the company needed a modern way to communicate its scale, innovation and sustainability efforts.
Traditional corporate communication was not enough.
The objective was to transform a highly industrial process into an engaging visual story capable of connecting with customers, partners and future generations.
Our Approach
Instead of producing a conventional industrial film, we created an entire visual universe inspired by cardboard itself.
Every environment, machine, character and production process was designed to feel as if it had been built from the same material Grupak produces every day.
The result was a unique storytelling system where sustainability, manufacturing and innovation became part of the narrative.

The project required more than six months of development, design, animation, rendering and post-production.
Three Commercial Films
The campaign consisted of three long-form branded films, each exceeding two minutes in duration.
Hybrid CGI + AI Workflow
Live-action sequences were created using advanced AI filmmaking techniques while all animated environments and industrial processes were produced in CGI.
Custom Art Direction
A complete cardboard-inspired visual language was developed specifically for the campaign.

Building An Entire World From Cardboard
One of the most unique aspects of the project was the creation of a complete visual universe inspired by cardboard and paper manufacturing.
Factories, machines, transportation systems, urban environments and even characters were designed around the textures, forms and structural qualities of corrugated cardboard.
This artistic decision allowed the campaign to visually communicate Grupak's expertise while reinforcing the brand's connection to sustainable materials and responsible manufacturing.
Rather than showing industrial processes in a conventional way, the project transformed them into an engaging cinematic experience.
From Raw Material To Finished Packaging
The campaign follows the journey of cardboard through multiple stages of production.
Audiences experience the transformation of recycled materials into paper rolls, industrial sheets, packaging structures and finished products used by businesses across Mexico.
By visualizing every stage of the manufacturing process, the films helped simplify complex industrial concepts and make them accessible to a broader audience.

Combining AI Filmmaking With CGI
The project blended two production methodologies.
While the animated sequences were developed entirely in CGI, the live-action sections were created using advanced AI filmmaking techniques.
This hybrid approach allowed the campaign to achieve a level of visual ambition that would have been significantly more expensive and time-consuming using traditional production methods alone.

Over six months of production, our team designed an entire visual universe inspired by cardboard manufacturing, packaging processes and sustainable production systems.
Every environment, machine, conveyor belt, factory element and character was custom-built specifically for the campaign. Hundreds of individual assets were modeled, textured, animated and rendered to create a cohesive world capable of explaining complex industrial processes through storytelling.
The project combined traditional CGI production techniques with modern AI-powered filmmaking workflows, allowing us to create three long-form branded films that balanced technical accuracy with emotional engagement.
